Paul started his career in the financial services industry in 1987 in the management training program of Manulife Financial. His nine years of administrative, marketing and customer service support spanning three provinces prepared him well to establish his own practice in 1997. This evolved to joining Arbutus Financial in 2005 and leading our Nanaimo office. Paul has been active and continues to be engaged in continuous education either for himself or helping others. He is a past Chair of the Ethics and Practice and Professional Development Program with the CVI (Central Vancouver Island) branch of Advocis. Paul has earned his FLMI, ACS, CPCA (Certified Professional Consultant on Aging), CEA (Certified Executor Advisor), RIA (Responsible Investment Association) and CFP (Certified Financial Planner).
Born and raised in Toronto, Paul chose to move to Victoria in 1981 and obtained his BA in 1985 at the University of Victoria. In the same year, Paul married Paige Fisher and they have been blessed with three exceptional children, plus a wonderful daughter-in-law and two sons-in-law. The family has also grown by four grandsons and a granddaughter and they are thrilled to be grandparents. Paul and Paige have and continue to be active in the community as leaders, volunteers, directors, coaches, fund raisers, and financial supporters of numerous organizations and charities. Paul enjoys traveling, hiking, music, rugby, reading, hockey, swimming, boating and running. Paul’s band “Jo & the Bros” have played many charity dances over the past few years and are known for getting people out on the floor.
