A healthy workplace is one in which the organization cares about the physical and psychological health and safety of its employees and establishes systems and programs to achieve and maintain exemplary health. A comprehensive healthy workplace consists of 4 elements: healthy lifestyles; physical environment; corporate social responsibility; and mental health and workplace culture.

Mental health conditions in the workplace are being diagnosed with greater frequency. The Ontario Chamber of Commerce has created Working Toward Mental Wellness: A toolkit for employers, which seeks to illuminate the distinctive character of mental wellness in the workplace, outline the case for action and provide resources for starting this conversation across workplaces.
